When I scored seat sale tickets for Taiwan (PhP 3000 roundtrip), I was ecstatic. I thought I was going to experience spring for the first time, in other words - 🌸. I even begged my best friends to come with me, not considering this was their first time to travel overseas.
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to see any Cherry Blossoms at full bloom because they bloom around Feb and March. We went there at April.
The trip was eventful, nonetheless. It was better than what I expected. Read more to know about our experience. 🙂

Like most seat sales, our flight to Taiwan was scheduled really early in the morning. We arrived at around 1 AM. We had to stay at Taoyuan International Airport and wait for the first MRT trip to Taipei, which is at 6:00 am.
While waiting: we exchanged our US dollars; picked up our 4G portable wifi from Klook; and loaded our MRT easycards.
At 6:30 AM, we boarded the express train from Airport Terminal 1 to Taipei Main Station. From Taipei Main Station, we went ahead to Chiang Kai Shek Station and rented some lockers for our baggage.

After that we went to Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall, wherein we had a sweaty but lovely time. Admission was free. The hall was huge and clean. We enjoyed the scenery and took A LOT of photos.
For lunch, we went to Hangzhou Xiao Long Bao just a few steps away from the hall. It was our first time to taste Xiao Long Bao and it was a surprising and delightful experience.

At 2 PM, we went to our inn, Space Inn Xinyi, near Taipei 101 station. We decided to take a power nap before going through the rest of the day. (Tbh by that time, we were feeling like zombies after a 2-hour nap in the plane...)
At 7 PM, feeling energized, we checked out Ximending Shopping District. This night market is famous for fashion clothing and awesome food. We tried the huge and delicious Hot Star chicken, which is famous in Taiwan. I loved it! We also tried authentic milk tea. For shopping, we dropped by the 5-storey H&M (...typical) to shop for our moms. At around 10 PM, we decided to call it a day and went ahead to our inn for a well-deserved rest.
