SEE: Tumalog Falls

Thursday, June 2, 2016 Oslob, Cebu, Philippines

One of the most famous waterfalls in Cebu is Tumalog Falls. Its fame is very much justified due to its magical and gentle water drops that result to little rainbows underneath it and bring goosebumps to everyone who sees it. If you're planning to go to Oslob, you should put Tumalog Falls in your bucket list for sure!

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Tumalog Falls is located in Oslob, Cebu near the whale shark watching area.
  • Entrance fee to the falls is PHP 20.
  • It does not have a deep body of water (pool). When we visited last March, the water was only knee-deep high and very calm. I asked a local if the pool increases depth during rainy seasons, and he said yes, which will flow across another mini falls near it.
  • There is an elevated platform surrounding the falls where you can place your dry clothes and valuables. Just remember to keep an eye on them because there are a lot of people going in and out.

HOW TO GET THERE:
  • If you're from Cebu City, ride a Ceres bus going to Bato via Oslob. Just inform the driver to drop you off at Oslob.
  • If you're from the whale shark watching area (usually people go to Tumalog Falls after seeing the whale sharks), you can ride a tricycle to the falls. Look for the signage "Tumalog Falls". There is an uphill trail going to the entrance of the fallsYou can either walk for about 15-20 minutes or ride a motorcycle to get there.
  • At the entrance (and drop off point for motorcycles), there are loads of habal-habals for rent that will drop you off on the actual site of the waterfalls. There is this rule that only one person can ride one habal-habal. Each ride costs PHP 50 each (round trip). Note: Remember the number of the driver because he will be the one who will fetch you.

Our experience there was surreal. First thing we saw were bamboo trees, a lot of bamboo trees. They form some kind of arc like they're hiding a hidden treasure (well, they were ♥). Tumalog was tall and majestic. We were in awe. Crazy thing was there were not much visitors, even if it was March. But then again, maybe it was too early, that was around 7:30 in the morning.

We found a spot to put our things where we can keep an eye on them while taking a dip. The water was gentle, like taking a shower! Rainbows emerge in every side of the falls. This sight truly is a gem which only proves that it's more fun in the Philippines.
